I have always had an interest in the Public Relations field. In the Entertainment Industry, a celebrity’s publicist was always close by on the red carpet or at press junkets making the job look very glamorous and fun. As time went on, I began to learn that one wrong move by a client could turn the fun into Reputation Management if a client really screws the pooch.
When I studied Business Administration, public relations and reputation management were areas we really focused on. As someone who aspires to work in the entertainment industry after graduating, the PRRM course has helped remind me that it is very important to keep my image and brand in the good graces of the masses.
In the past, I have always had the idea and dreams to align myself with numerous organizations or charities that have similar interests to mine. The PSA assignment reminded me that it is so important to find meaningful ways to help individuals and communities for more than just professional reasons. I’m so excited that the PRRM course has reminded me of this and restarted the fire within me to research and connect with local organizations. I would eventually LOVE to partner with organizations both nationally & internationally.
Something else that I learned unexpectedly was the power of short-length videos from the PSA and About Me assignments. Having made a few videos for my YouTube video before taking the course, I have relied on longer videos in order to highlight & get my thoughts out. I now see that I can still get my point across have been forced to create videos with shorter length requirements. Going back and watching my videos, I can now see that huge chunks of my videos are just filler or fluff. I will take what I learned from those assignments with me as I begin to develop new content. It is important because that I hope to use my upcoming content in highlight reels when I apply for future jobs in the entertainment and broadcasting fields.
