Whether it was an opportunity we didn’t take, a pipe dream, or something as simple as living in a different country...the question of “What If?” can be one we ask ourselves from time to time.
Some call it an alternate timeline and Marvel calls it the “Multiverse”, but we can all admit to having daydreams in which our lives are very different from those that we currently lead in reality.
Nikki Carmack, a pre-med student, is no different than the rest of us. Since a very young age Nikki knew that she wanted to become a doctor and provide quality healthcare to as many patients as possible.
Her mom, Noemi, says, “We would always ask her what she wanted to be when she grew up and at very young age, she always said “I want to be a doctor”. That statement has never changed after all these years.”
Growing up in a family that is very musical and loved to entertain. Her mom is a singer that went to school for a music degree, her father, Bob, sings in the church choir, and her brother, Robby, is a dancer and aspiring TV host.
Nikki inherited her mother’s natural singing and performing abilities. However, as a young girl she always had a secret fantasy of becoming a singer that she kept to herself and never fully revealed to her family.
“Nikki really loved doing the elementary school productions and she was very good in them! She was cast as the lead in a few of the productions and you could tell she had a natural talent for singing,” says Noemi.
“I will never forget my first talent show!”, she says with a somewhat nervous grin. The performance she is referring to took place when she was 5 years old, she sang a duet of Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” with a close family friend in a polka dot Minnie Mouse dress.
Nikki’s family was and still is a Walt Disney Family. As a child growing up in the 2000’s and early 2010’s there was only one channel Nikki and her brother would watch religiously…the Disney Channel.
So, it is no surprise that in an alternate universe Nikki would put her singing and acting talents to use and be a Disney Channel Star.
“I think what I imagine to be a Disney Channel kid would also be the success you would have afterwards. I admired the way that Selena Gomez grew into singing, dancing, and building a brand for herself.”
“I love when Nikki sings! She is better than she wants to admit,” Brittney Alexander says about Nikki’s singing talents.
Nikki and Brittney have been friends for years and love to do karaoke in the car. “Harmonizing comes so easy for her when a song comes on. I love being able to sing Ariana Grande songs with her, Ariana is one of our favorite female singers!”
